Outside lighting · sockets · garden schemes

Outdoors, powered and lit.

Lighting is where Stay Safe's work gets talked about — 'the lighting is what really added that special feel to our house', as one Kingston customer put it. Outside, it's where electrical work meets the way you actually use a space after dark: grazing a wall, marking a path safely underfoot, lighting a patio you can sit out on. And we offer a free, complimentary lighting design service, so you can see the plan before you commit. We design each scheme around your space, install the sockets and power to go with it, and wire and certify the lot to the same standard as the rest of our work.

Two ways we work outdoors.

Low-voltage lighting for atmosphere, mains power for sockets and security — both weatherproofed to survive British weather and wired, tested and certificated to standard.

Interior & feature lighting

01

Inside, the difference is in the layers — recessed downlights, concealed coving light, pendants over an island, a feature drop through a vaulted ceiling. We plan the scheme around the room and how it's used, wire it cleanly back to the board, and dim and switch it so the light does the work. It's the kind of scheme our reviews describe as giving a home its 'special feel'.

Garden lighting & outdoor power

02

Outside, we usually run atmosphere lighting — beds, borders, trees and steps — on a low-voltage system from a transformer in a protected enclosure, safe to work around planting. For sockets, security and floodlighting, we run proper RCD-protected mains circuits, weatherproofed with the right IP-rated fittings. Both are wired and certified like every other circuit we touch.

How we light a garden.

01

Free lighting design first

We offer a free, complimentary lighting design service — so before any work starts, you can see the scheme planned around your room or garden. No obligation, and no guessing at what you'll get.

02

Layered, not floodlit

We light in layers — a graze up a wall, a marker at a step, a pool of light on a patio — so the effect is atmospheric rather than a car park. The fittings do the work; you rarely see the source.

03

Specified to last outdoors

Outside, sealed IP-rated fittings and proper weatherproof connectors are chosen because they survive British weather. Cabling is buried and protected, joints made in proper enclosures — not wrapped in tape.

04

Run safely, RCD protected

Outdoor circuits are RCD protected and, where it suits, run at low voltage from a transformer in a protected enclosure — safe around beds and borders, and installed and certified to standard.
